- Fled Egypt in 1954 and practised in Boston from 1955. When Egypt cancelled his passport and demanded his return, Senator John F. Kennedy and Canada's Paul Martin Sr. helped him settle in Windsor, Ontario
- Later chief resident at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto; married 53 years; four daughters
