The prisoner who took a new name, and fought in the Prague Uprising
At a re-registration in Buchenwald in early 1945, Baruch Gajc gave his name as "Bolek Guy". Weeks later he and two friends jumped from a prison transport onto a coal train, hid with the Sobotka family in Prague, and joined the May uprising. He kept the name for the rest of his life, and so did his children.
One family
Our family came together from a rabbi’s house in Settat, a merchant’s family in Alexandria, a grain trader’s home in Brześć Kujawski and a village in the Carpathian foothills, and it goes on today in Israel and America. This is where we keep everything we know about all of them, and where we keep looking for the rest.

Twelve members of our family were murdered in the Shoah. In June 1999, at home in Herzliya, Bolek and Perla wrote down each of their names for Yad Vashem.
